Yunus set to receive ‘King Charles Harmony Award’ from scandal-plagued British monarch
Media outlets in Dhaka has catered a news item stating, Muhammad Yunus shall be visiting Britain to receive “highly prestigious King Charles Harmony Award-2025” from King Charles III. This report appears at a time when Yunus is already branded as the prime enemy of the people of Bangladesh for his nefarious attempts of illegally remaining in power indefinitely by postponing much-expected general elections. Yunus also faces serious allegations of human rights violations, repression on journalists and extreme cruelty on Hindus, Christians and religious minorities in the country. At the same time, he is accused of facilitating Islamists and jihadists and actualize blueprint of US Deep State, Pakistani ISI and foreign interests thus pushing Bangladesh into a dangerous ground of proxy war and trans-national terrorism and narco-trafficking.
Although Bangladeshi media portrays ‘King Charles Harmony Award’ as “highly prestigious”, which understandably is work of the band of Goebbels of Yunus, this award actually was launched in 2024 where the first recipient was former
UN secretary general Ban Ki-moon. No one will dare to ask Yunus or his gang – how an award which was launched just a year ago becomes “highly prestigious” and what prompted King Charles III to give the award to Yunus at a time when he has become one of the most controversial figures in today’s world. Is it part of “reputation management” bids of Yunus team?
Now let us look into the past track record of the British monarch himself. Back in August 2022, within several weeks of media report exposing Britain’s Prince Charles has received suitcases and shopping bags stuffed with millions of dollars’ worth of cash from a controversial Qatari politician between 2011 and 2015, fresh reports claimed, Charles has also received £1 (US$1.7) million from half-brothers of Al Qaeda kingpin Osama Bin Laden in 2013 – two years after Bin Laden was killed.
Media reports say, the Prince of Wales’s Charitable Fund (PWCF) received the donation. Clarence House said it had been assured by PWCF that “thorough due diligence” had been conducted, and the decision to accept the money lay with the trustees.
According to the report, Prince Charles accepted the money from Bakr Bin Laden, who heads the wealthy Saudi family, and Bakr’s brother Shafiq, following a meeting with Bakr at Clarence House.
The heir to the throne took the money despite objections from advisers at Clarence House and PWCF, the Sunday Times reports, citing multiple sources.
According to The Sunday Times, the Prince of Wales’ Charitable Fund was given the money in 2013 by Bakr bin Laden, patriarch of the large and wealthy Saudi family, and his brother Shafiq.
Both are half-brothers of the former al-Qaida leader and mastermind of the September 11 attacks on the United States, who was killed by US special forces in Pakistan in 2011.
The paper reported that Charles met with Bakr in London in 2013, where he agreed to accept the gift. Citing unnamed sources, it said advisers had urged the heir to the throne not to take the donation.
Charles’ office, Clarence House, confirmed the donation but said the decision to accept the money was taken by the charity’s trustees, not the prince.
In 2021, British media alleged that people associated with another of Charles’ charities, the Prince’s Foundation, offered to help a Saudi billionaire secure honors and citizenship in return for donations.
The man, tycoon Mahfouz Marei Mubarak bin Mahfouz, had donated large sums to restoration projects of particular interest to Charles.
The head of the foundation, Michael Fawcett, resigned in 2021 after an internal investigation into the allegations.
Earlier, The Sunday Times in a report said, Prince Charles personally accepted suitcases and shopping bags stuffed with millions of dollars’ worth of cash from a controversial Qatari politician between 2011 and 2015.
“Everyone felt very uncomfortable about the situation”, a former adviser to the Prince of Wales told the Sunday Times of London.
The “only thing we could do was to count the money and make a mutual record of what we’d done”, the source said. “And then call the bank”.
Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jaber Al Thani, the former prime minister of Qatar, bestowed the big bucks on the heir to the British throne in three deliveries during private, off-the-books meetings at Clarence House, the prince’s official London residence.
It may be mentioned here that, Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jaber Al Thani is diehard supporter of Palestinian mega-terror outfit Hamas, a Jew-hater and violent opposer of the State of Israel.
According to the report, the Islamist Qatari sheikh came toting stacks of bills totaling 3 million euros — about US$3.2 million at today’s exchange rates — in duffel bags, a suitcase, and several branded shopping bags from the famed Fortnum & Mason department store.
The payments were deposited into the Prince of Wales’s Charitable Fund (PWCF), a grant-making entity that quietly bankrolls the prince’s pet projects — and pays the bills at his Scottish country estate.
But the revelation fueled talk of a “cash-for-access culture” surrounding Prince Charles — coming just months after his longtime aide, Michael Fawcett, was bounced from the charity amid allegations he used his position to help a Saudi billionaire receive a “golden visa” and high royal honors.
