On Wednesday, A’ja Wilson headed to the locker room before the LA Sparks-Las Vegas Aces matchup came to a close. Shortly after the Aces lost 97-89 to the Sparks, an update on Wilson’s early exit has emerged.
As per Yahoo Sports, the reigning WNBA MVP sustained a head injury that caused the Aces to shut her down for the rest of the game.
While there are no further details on the severity of Wilson’s injury, it’s possible that a defensive play might have led to it.
At one point in the third quarter, Wilson went up to challenge a layup attempt from Sparks forward Dearica Hamby. In this sequence, Hamby’s offhand caught Wilson in the face, causing the Aces star to stagger backwards.
